A new restaurant, Sam Sylk’s Chicken and Fish, just opened near the heart of Shaker Heights, and it’s very much a viable location. Just when you think Cleveland had published some sort of secret manual that restaurant operators had to adhere to just to open their doors, along come Sam Sylk's Chicken and Fish with designs of their own.
Last week, I went to Sam Sylk’s Chicken and Fish and tried some of their greens, fish and wings. Wow! You talking about some great food. Radio Personality Sam Sylk is known for playing the hits on WZAK 93.1 and now he is doing his thing as an entrepreneur.
The location is at 3761 Lee Road in Shaker Heights, Ohio 44128. Now you have another choice of somewhere to go and enjoy some great fish and chicken with sides that make your mouth water.
When you walk through the door the bright colors and the spacious place makes it nice to sit and talk about their food. Complete with big screen televisions and Barbie’s smiling face you get your money’s worth.
The new restaurant seats 12 inside but counter space along the sides for a few to sit and enjoy the atmosphere, and when the weather improves, you will have an air conditioned setting.
Employees have been hired in addition to family members, which give you that family style dining.
Now if you are in a hurry, you better call in because they have a sign posted that lets you know everything is cooked to order. Nothing sits under a warming light. It’s all fresh. While enjoying my food, so many friends were walking in and raving about how good the food was and they had to come back in.
It's a challenge to keep the attention of diners in a culinary market as dynamic as the fast food area. It’s even harder to do so for years on end on the east side of Cleveland, where dining at new restaurants is blood sport. But they will do well because it’s new and different place and the food is excellent.
“Running a restaurant is hard work, but Sam will do great because of his great personality and great attitude about treating people right,” said Jeanetta Price, executive director of Union Miles Development Corporation.
Because we’re nostalgic, that’s why I have a special place for the Lee Road area. Because some of us remember when we had a lot food places to eat in the neighborhood. Coming from Chicago, Sam knows the importance of being able to get good food there.
The official Grand Opening Weekend kick-off was March 6 and continued all weekend with many give a ways all weekend. Everybody was invited and many came out and Sam personally greeted and thanked everyone who came in. While there on Friday, the Sax Man Maurice Reedus Jr. came in and took time to play a little music for the customers.
Sam shared that chicken and fish is comfort food and opening this place was just something he had to do. Known for his signature sandwich the Challenger, you can get any one of his fish choices to make this sandwich complete.
Shout out to Barbie and for holding it down during business hours and giving you that quality service.
Make your way over to Sam’s place to taste samples of his delicious homestyle fried chicken and fish and signature sauce. Those wings are very addictive with his special sauce and check out some of lunch specials every day. Make sure you save room for some of those homemade desserts, especially that German Chocolate cake, them I sent you.
