How Do I Network and Contribute to the Community

By simply joining Minority-Biz, you have already shown an interest in our mission of increasing economic wealth in minority communities, extending the life cycle of a dollar in our communities, and improving the relationship between minority business owners and consmers.

Now that you are part of the community, listed below are a few tips to help you enhance your experience:

Get Social

Totally separate from any business listings that you submit to the business directory, your profile page establishes how you choose to present yourself to the community and communicate with both consumers and businessses. A detailed profile page gets more visits from users and ultimately directs them to the businesses, events, and other activities that you have submitted.  Below are a few features you can add to make your page more attractive and sticky.profile2

  • Add a Profile Picture.   Simply, a profile with a picture draws more visitors. Add a picture of yourself and develop a personal relationship with members of the community.  Indirect communication becomes more relatable when one can associate an image with whom they are communicating with.
  • Add Bio Information. Share a bit of your background and thoughts on minority businesses with viewers of your page.  Your bio details may spark interest from future friends and businesses.
  • Network.  Don't hesitate to reach out to a member that lives in your city or shares a similar background as yours. If you're planning on starting a business, reach out to a member that currently has a business in your field.  Minority-Biz is a collective, so the more relationships that are built through this network, the more goals we can accomplish collectively.
  • Post updates.  Post sales and promotions, milestones, business and product launches, and all other announcements. Whenever you support a minority-owned business, post an update, take a pic on your phone, and add it to the community as motivation for others to support our businesses.
  • Add Events.  Add any meetups, seminars, conventions, promotional events, and any other events that may be of interest to the community.
  • Add Picutres and Videos.  Post pictures of your grand opening, promotional events, new products and other interesting moments. Feel free to add business introduction, self-help, and motivational videos,to the community.
  • Add Groups.  Oftertimes, it's more engaging to communicate in smaller circles. Add a group and build communites around specific businesses and interests. Each group will have its own photos, videos, events, and discussion board exclusive to the group.
  • Add Widgets.  Add your Twitter or blog feed to your profile so that members visiting your profile page can also view your tweets and blog posts.
  • Invite your contacts.  You can invite your friends and professional contacts who share our vision for economic enpowerment to join Minority-Biz with one click.  The larger our network of like-minded people, the greater our impact on our communities.

Mind our Business- Add Business Listings and Reviews

Submit Business Listings.  Join us in building the most comprehensive list of minority-owned businesses on the internet. Whether you're the owner or a satisfied customer, post as many minority-owned businesses to the business directory as you choose. Our goal is eliminate the common excuses that minority consumers use for not supporting minority-owned business, such as being unable to find a minority-owned business for a particular product or service.

biz-listing4Write Reviews.  Take a brief moment to share your experiences you've had with your favorite businesses so that we can also eliminate the notion that there are not many professionally operated minority businesses.  We want to break down all the self-imposed barriers/ excuses for not supporting our own.

Just as important, constructively share your negative experiences so that underperforming businesses can improve their operations.

'Favorite' Your Top Businesses: Along with your own business, add those minority-owned businesses that you are most satisfied with to your 'Favorites List.'  Your "Favorites List' appears on your personal profile and gives those businesses a little extra exposure to those browsing your profile.
